Surf womens shorts fall into a few fabric families. Six run at one hundred percent: linen in Very Peri, Seafoam, Nice Blue and Lazy Linen; cotton in Aruba, Boxer Shorts, Old Hamptons and Foggy Mood; organic cotton in Sprinkle and Dot & Not; hemp in Fanta and Pitahaya; cupro in Wave Tiger; viscose in Floral Ethereal. Ethereal blends seventy percent modal, thirty percent polyester; Cupro Ethereal fifty-five percent cupro, forty-five percent viscose; Striped Rugby seventy-seven percent cotton, twenty-three percent recycled polyester; Retro ninety percent organic cotton and Frotte ninety percent cotton, each with ten percent polyester. Moroccan Bauble mixes cotton, polyester, viscose and polyamide.

Cuts, pockets and detailing

Moroccan Bauble has a rounded, balloon-shaped cut. Side-seam pockets are on twenty of the twenty-nine, among them Ethereal, Aruba and the linen models; Striped Rugby adds a patch pocket at the back. Boxer Shorts, Old Hamptons, Lazy Linen and Wave Tiger have side slits; the first two add an imitation fly, Lazy Linen a mock closure at the front. Wave embroidery on the leg runs on nine cards, among them Very Peri, Seafoam and the Hemp Shorts. The “Surf” flag label in the side seam is on twenty of the twenty-nine, and Dot & Not finishes the leg openings with ruffles.
